If you would like to see some of the elements of the program check out Little People Big world- Season 9 episode 18 ( on Itunes) it will also air a second time on Monday 14th June at 7pm EST- you will see how the first Space camp for Little People was through the eyes of Zack and Amy Roloff.
The programme is based on the experience at Space camp called the Pathfinder program. The participants of the camp learn about early space history from the Mercury program and the first people in space, the space race, Apollo and then onto the future which includes the thoughts about travel to Mars.

The group then look at how astronauts live and train in space as well as experinece some of the training processes that allow them to experience what it is like in space.

Rockets are built and flown as well as a fully manned mission in a Space Shuttle- you could find yourself either the pilot of the shuttle, the mission commander or even a mission specialist going out to space to carry out an EVA.

Space Camp for Little People the origins

Picture
Space Camp for Little People was developed by Geoff Mitchell, the father of Ashton who is a Little Person.

The concept began to take shape after Geoff was awarded a scholarship by Honeywell Hometown Solutions to attend Space Camp for Educators in 2007 in Huntsville, Alabama. During the camp he thought it would be a good idea to see if the activities that he had taken part in could be adapted for Little People so that they could also enjoy the dreams that so many people have about space.
